APPLICATION OF FRP COMPOSITE IN STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING

Due to the earth’s finite resources utilized in the construction industry, an increasing concern for safety and stability of structures and other environmental concerns, there is an urgent need for the optimization of the construction materials. In the last 3 decades there is a rise in the use of composite materials. Hence, Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) is receiving significant attention in the AEC industry swaying away from other industry such as the aerospace industry thanks to their lightweight, high strength, corrosive resistance and other appealing benefits for a variety of structural application.

Through a comparative literature review the study investigates the importance and application of FRP in the past and their current utilization.
